Yoon says: I was interested to see that you only recommend keeping rabbits indoors - would they be OK outside in summer and indoors in winter? Also when they are kept indoors can they be kept when there ar other pets in the house such as dogs or cats? says: hi, i have two cute dwarf hamsters called bubbles and scribles. they are very cute. the only trubble is that they bite. would you know how to stop them from biting? Ross says: It was Sam's (our Syrian hamster)2nd birthday on Monday (07/06/10). We got him from Paws Here and he is a wonderful companion. Always makes me smile. steve says: just to say a big thank you for taking on my little chinese dwarf hamsters, smudge and baily, im missing them already but I know you guys will look after them until they get a new home. You are all fantastic, keep up the good work, cheers xx Nic (Toffee's Gran! says: Toffee came home with us today after your excellent pet care class. Keren is having a tough time coping with not handling her but is being sensible about it! Toffee has had a good long investigation of her cage and has decided the best place to sleep just now is the sand bath, without any bedding:-). Thanks for all your help and advice you do a great job. says: Hi Megan, thanks for your question! There are a few things you can use as litter: paper pellets like Back 2 Nature or Yesterday's News are good as they are very mild for sensitive bunnies. You could use carefresh (a softer paper-based bedding) but your bunnies might kick it out of the tray more as it is lighter. You can use wood based cat litter as long as there are NO clumping agents or chemicals in it, just wood pellets. Or you can use wood shavings (not cedar). Be careful with the wood-based beddings that you keep an eye on whether it is irritating your bunny. Look out for hair loss and/or red skin, especially on the feet, or sniffles. If your rabbit gets any of these then switch to a paper based bedding and have them checked out by a good vet right away. We can reccommend the Dick Vet small animal clinic at Easter Bush. Megan says: Hi,me and my sister are getting rabbits very soon, and are thinking about using a litter tray, I was just wondering what we should use as a litter in it? Caroline says: Hi Rachel, we picked up from you a little syrian hamster this afternoon, she is settling in very fast and is so sweet and cute. We have named her Toffee-Sundae because of her colouring. Thanks very much! Caroline says: Hi, I was wondering if you had a litter of syrian hamsters available for veiwing in the next few weeks as I have an empty hamster cage that could do with being filled. Thanks xx Kathleen Engleman says: I am a frequent visitor and fascinated caretaker of Leah and Lady Jane, blue bunny sisters who were adopted from you about a year and a half ago and have also enjoyed several holidays at the shop. Their canine brother, Jake, also keeps an eye on them and they all get on fine. I thought it would be important to let local supporters know that Paws Here are currently in the running for a £1000 donation from the Waitrose on Morningside Road. Apparently the way it works is that, whenever shopping is done there, the purchaser is offered a plastic token which can be put into one of three sections of a charity box in the supermarket. The charity which receives the most tokens in the month then receives the £1000 donation. Wouldn't it be great to get this financial boost? Hopefully, people seeing this can encourage friends and relatives who shop there to put their token into the Paws Here section this month and help the shelter in this way. renee says: i have a baby chinese hamster she is a little doll i love her to death Fiona Morrison says: Hi Rachel, just to let you know that Ronnie and Wilbur (renamed Fluffy and Patches) have settled in well. They aren't mixing too great with the others so they only have play time altogether and then go back into their separate cages for the moment. Spike and Angel (renamed Whitey and Bear) are doing really well with Mr Black and they love their big new cage. Mira says: Yay I don't think my rats having babies! Rachel Plummer says: Hi Mira, thanks for the comment. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that it is just a false alarm and that your rattie isn't pregnant, but if she is don't worry, we will definitely be able to help. If you are worried or have any questions then call us on 0131 4477464 after midday on any day of the week. Best of luck! Rachel Mira says: Hi my cousin came to my house on Saturday the 20th and brought her rats, we kept them apart because her rats are boys and mine are girls but my cousins rats escaped (thankfully the door was shut) but they managed to open my cages door from the out side.We don't know if anything happened but one of my rats Poppy has been begging for food a lot more than usual and when we give her food she gets really aggressive.I think she might be having babies so I read loads of books and went online and I read your breeding page but I hope that you will take them in and find them good homes if she has any babies. Fiona Morrison says: Hi Rachel and Co, here is a video that I uploaded of one of my rescue rats (Spike or Angel, wasn't sure which way round you had them) now named Solo. He is boggling away and he looks so cute!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuwfeK8Oxjc&sns=em Sasha says: Hello, I'd really love to come and have my work experience with you. My name is Sasha . What do gerbils eat and what size of cage should they be kept in? Isabelle says: GET WELL SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ross says: Dear All, Sorry to hear about the illness. Hope you all manage to recover soon. All the best, Ross Rachel Plummer says: Hi Lucy, unfortunately all of the female hamster in the current litter are reserved, although we do have some boys left looking for homes. I have another litter of hamsters that are still too young to be seen just now, but there should be some girls in that litter. They will be ready to be seen and reserved in another week or two, then they can go to new homes another week or two after that. Thanks! Lucy says: Hi, I was wondering if you have any female hamsters for sale? And how much are they? Thanks Post your own messagePlease note that all messages have to be approved by us.
