First of all I would just like to say greetings !!!.... I am a Canadian living in Montreal, Quebec CANADA and I JUST HAPPENED BY CHANCE to find this very intresting site, I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN OF HAMSTERS for more than 20 years now ( Iused to breed hamsters as a hobby when I was a teen aged girl 25 years ago and have always enjoyed the playful antics and ways of these small rodents... KEEP UP WITH THE FINE WORK that is so obvious to me that you do for all the small rodents that you care for , and the photos are great, really made me smile , made my day already brighter !!!

Rachel Plummer says:
Hi Pip, thanks for your question. A five gallon tank is pretty small, even for a dwarf hamster or mouse. It may be a suitable size for a roborovski hamster. You'd need to be sure there was lots for the hamster to do and play with, possibly a wheel to run on as well for exercise. Good luck with your search for a new pet! Rachel.
Pip says:
Hi There, I just came accross youre site and was looking for some pet advice. My son has recently had his fish die and we are now left with a 5 gallon tank. We were wondering what pet/s we could have using this as housing?
Debbie says:
Hi Rachel, Didn't realise you had such a fantastic website or that you did so much with the rescues. Well done you!! Sorry to hear you've been ill but glad you're on the mend. We'll pop in soon to find out more about helping/fostering etc.

Just to let you know how Stephen (agouti with the mohawk) and Alan (white with foolish face) the guinea pigs are doing. I spent hours yesterday getting them used to being handled and we've made really good progress. They're not very talkative yet, but it's coming slowly as they get more curious about me and their surroundings. I'm having great fun earning their confidence. See you soon. ;)
Sarah Jane Fleming says:
Hi, I bought a wee syrian hamster from you yesterday, just a little note to say she is settling in well to her new home and is absolutely fantastic, when she is fully awake she will jump onto my hand and climb up my arm out of her cage! I have never had a new hamster that was so tame!! I have called her Juno. Your shop is quite far away from where I stay, but whenever lifts are available I will try to come up and support such a brilliant enterprise. Thanks.
Elizabeth & Gerrie says:
Thanks Rachel. We'll bring it in soon.
Rachel Plummer says:
Hi Elizabeth and Gerrie. I'm sorry to hear about Benson, it's such a shame that hamsters have such short lives. I hope you're ok. It would be lovely to have the cage for another hamster, if you like you can bring it into the shop any time. Rachel.
Elizabeth & Gerrie says:
Hi Rachel, our lovely hamster, Benson, has sadly passed away. We were wondering whether you would want his cage so it can give another hamster a nice home? If so, we will bring it into the shop for you whenever is convenient.

Hi Rachel, in september I got from you a lovely little syrian hamster called Treacle and she is doing great. Very sociable and she loves cuddles. I recently brought home my new furry friend from your store. She is a long haired umbrous golden syrian and I have named her Vesper. I only just found your store and I am very glad I have. Ross says:
Hi Rachel, I was in on Saturday & got one of the small animal advent calendars. I think Sam will like it, he was sniffing it when he was out for a run around. Any recommendations for an Xmas present for a Syrian hamster?

Hi Rachel, just to let you know that the two dumbo rats are settling into their new cage well. They are getting used to me and enjoying coming out to run around the living room floor. Hi Rachel, the baby girls and my big girl get on great! We let them meet each other on neutral grounds and they all took to each other immediately. Rachel Plummer says:
Hi Alexia, thanks for the message! I'm feeling much better now, which is good. I wish you lived closer too, you could come and see the new baby hamsters I've got just now (they are sooo adorable!). Speak to you soon, Rachel.

Catriona says:
Hi! Thanks for the Pet Care class a few Sundays ago, it was great and really useful! =] My little Syrian, the one with the swollen leg I got from you, is settling in really well and enjoys his playtime outside the cage. He loves the ball, and seems to like climbing on me! I named him Bunky, which is seeming to be an apt name as he LOVES his bed! =] He's a super little guy, thanks again for him!
Zoe & Stuart says:
Hi Rachel, The wee fellows are doing just great, now named Stan and Oli!They are incredibly friendly and curious and seem very happy in their new surroundings. It is great having gerbils again, they are certainly entertaining. We will keep you posted on progress and send you a few photos....

Hey Ewan, yeah the hamster cages are coming tomorrow some time before 5pm, probably early afternoon. See you soon, Rachel.
Ewan says:
Hi Rachel, will you get the hamster cages delivered tomorrow?
Katherine says:
Ahh, do you know when you will be getting the wire barred cages in? Thats the one that Ewan wants :) Im not sure as my mum buys the rabbit food, she just said to ask you if you did it as she may start coming to you for the rabbit stuff aswell :) but the rabbit (Sophie), only really likes the excel hay, not the timothy hay or any other sorts! I also wanna say what a lovely shop you run, and I lvoe the way you get an instantly nice feel about the place! And that its always clean and there is next to no smell!!! Dont let anyone tell you different ;)
Rachel Plummer says:
Hi Katherine! We have some all-plastic hamster cages in to buy, and should be getting more of the wire barred cages in soon. I often have excel hay for rabbits - do you mean the excel herbage? See you soon, Rachel.
Katherine says:

I currently have 12 baby rescue mice looking for homes, so if your friend is still looking send her my way! Thanks, Rachel

Hi Rachel, It's 2 weeks since we brought Cinnamon Sam home from your shop - today (10/08/08) he's 64 days old (sadly, I created a spreadsheet to keep track). He's settled in really well & has a great nature. He seems fine in the cage, although he has discovered the joy of coming out for playtime & can't understand why we need to go to bed at night. Tries uploading a couple of pics. Will keep an eye on the gallery & see if they show up.
Alex and Findlay says:
Scruffy is getting on very well. He is very cute. He loves his hamster ball and wheel.
Alexia 05/08/08 says:
Hi Rachael Alexia here from Newcastle! Just to keep you updated with Ebony... She is doing just great..(11 weeks old) She loves her cage ...a little too much at times! lol I was thinking the wheel would be the problem. ie the noise! but no that's cool..however she has this mineral stone that she loves to push up and down the bars of her cage, this proves to be the one thing that keeps me awake haha. I could remove it but I like the way she plays...kinda a cute! I have tried several times to upload pics of her without success :( I may email one or two to you so that you can see hows she's doing. Oh by the way anyone interested in a hamster cage I would strongly recommend buying the Savic Metro Heaven, from Rachael's shop. Its fab :)
cheryl says:
Hi Rachel! I adopted the 2 girlie ratties from you on saturday [mommy and baby], they're doing well :) i've named the mommy Nessie, but don't have a name for the baby yet, she will have one soon though :D also, baby likes to crawl over nessie and climb on her back, steal her treats (like pieces of catfood) and use her as a pillow, wich nessie doesn't seem to mind too much! i'll upload a photo of the double-decker rattie-duo soon! xox
Chloe says:
Hi Jess my hamster is really liking his new home!!!! I will upload some pics!!!!!!!
Rachel Plummer says:
Hi Katherine, sorry but we didn't get your photo. Perhaps you can try uploading again? Sorry! - Rachel.
Wobble says:
Hi everyone! Hope you’re keeping well. We’re fine in our new home. Sometimes we miss the shop tho and all our friends but Adam and Heidi have been quite nice to us. They even let Axel to chew one of the tables so he wouldn’t miss the shop shelves so much. He has also picked up the courage to jump up and down the couch now so I don’t need to play on my own anymore. Think I’m still the braver one tho. It sometimes annoys me that Adam and Heidi always hide our veg and candies and we need to work soooo hard to turn around bowls and dig under every pillow to find our sweets. Oh and sometimes they just watch the telly and we need to push and jump around them to get any attention. Apart from all that it’s all good...think Me and Axel will be happy here. Loads of love, Wobble & Axel Ps. Heidi and Adam has taken some pics of us so I’ll ask them to put them up at some point.
Katherine says:
did you get the picture i uploaded? my computer froze half way through and im not sure if you got it or not?
Emma and Christina says:

(hasnt happened yet haha)
